Three New Digital Solutions for Capturing and Sharing Content — ThaTrunk, Spling, SnipSnap

The Internet gives us the most powerful communications platform the world has ever known, making every aspect of communication easier. From simple e-mails and instant messages to robust social media platforms sharing content, the world has been flattened by technology. Every week new applications and programs are created to help make the Internet more functional. This is especially true when it comes to capturing content and sharing digital media. We are all familiar with popular digital solutions such as YouTube and Flickr, but to stay relevant we must continually examine the latest offerings to determine which will work best for our life or our marketing style.

ThaTrunk

ThaTrunk is the unique media solution that allows users to engage in proximity-based sharing. In other words, artists, musicians, writers, photographers and others creative minds can share their digital creations with those that are located in the same geographical area as themselves. The application is easy to use. Registration and uploading files is all it takes to begin sharing content creations with those around you. The system stands out from other content sharing sites for one simple reason. Unfortunately, the reason is also its greatest problem. Because ThaTrunk is a proximity-based digital solution, it is the perfect application for artists for sharing content and creations in convention or similar situations. Sadly, if there are no other ThaTrunk users in close proximity to the user, there is no one to share content with. Hopefully, as the application grows in popularity, the creators will find an answer to this glaring problem.

Spling

Spling attempts to answer one of the glaring problems that exist on the Internet – sharing links. This system is designed to allow anyone to share any link, and to share from anywhere, at any time, with a simple click. Using the system is relatively simple, although it does require you to register for yet another social media site. Instead of creating a simple shareable library of links, Spling works by creating a social media profile complete with friend lists, passwords, and sharing features. This means users will be forced to create yet another profile simply to manage the links they want to share on other profiles. It is hopeful that Spling will address some of these issues as the platform becomes more popular. One idea is creating easier integration with current social media platforms.

SnipSnap

With the growing popularity of extreme couponing – even regular couponing – keeping track of digital coupons has become a driving force for many consumers. SnipSnap makes it easy to capture and share digital coupons. Downloading the app, which is similar in function to cloud computing, makes it easy to capture digital coupons across the Internet. Tracking coupons, organizing them and storing them for later use is also simplified. The system would be flawless except for one thing: not all stores take digital coupons. Still, as more stores make the move into the digital age, this program is likely to become a favorite method of capturing content among consumers. Capturing and sharing content and digital media isn’t just about sharing funny videos or cat pictures. Over time, digital solutions such as the ones described above may become more popular. However, proven solutions like the Commonfig platform (which allows you to share digital media in the form of videos pictures and portfolio information) will always be the preferred solution.
